Housing Quality Standards (HQS) Inspections
Providing “decent, safe and sanitary” housing starts with the initial inspection of units receiving assistance in our housing programs and continues on throughout the assisted tenancy. All of the housing assistance programs that HOM administers rental assistance for require that units meet HUD’s Housing Quality Standards (HQS) initially before assistance is initiated and continuously while under contract. HOM Housing Inspectors are some of the very best in the field, having many years of experience and inspections under their belt.
HOM also excels at the administrative aspects of the HQS inspection process; including scheduling, notification of landlords and program participants of results, enforcement of HQS through re-inspection and other remedies and documentation of final inspection results.
HOM provides HQS inspection services to a number of non-profit and Public Housing Authority (PHA) partners for several different housing programs that require HQS compliance, including:
- Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) programs
- HOME TBRA programs
- Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) programs
- Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) programs
- Neighborhood Stabilization Programs
- Homeownership and down payment assistance programs
HOM also utilizes housing management software to provide an automated solution to the performance and documentation of HQS requirements for housing programs. Inspections are typically conducted within 5 days of the request and results are delivered within 2 days.
