Initial Orientations Once your application for assistance has been reviewed, you will be contacted to attend an initial orientation about the program that you have applied for. At this time you will complete a full application for housing assistance and provide information about your household composition, household income, assets and expenses. We will determine at that time whether you meet all of the required eligibility guidelines for the program. The initial orientation lasts approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours and you must attend the entire orientation before proceeding in the program.
During the orientation, HOM, Inc. will provide you with an overview of the program policies, rules and requirements, including how to search for a unit, how much you can spend, how much you will pay for rent and utilities, and other important information about the program. We will explain your rights under federal and state fair housing laws and provide you with a copy of the HUD Discrmination Complaint form for your use if you feel that you have been a victim of discrimination. You can also get a copy of that form by clicking on the link below.
We will also provide you with a list of landlords and owners of properties that are willing to work with our programs that may have units available for rent at that time.
You must bring all members of your household that are ages 18 or over to the orientation. You must also provide picture identification and social security cards for all household members. We must have written third-party verification of all household members' income, assets and expenses in order to calculate your Tenant Rent and the subsidy that you will receive in the program.
